Last week we interviewed Steve Newman, the owner of 360 Quality Care + Transport Services, to get an update on progress and learn about what's next. Read on to find out what the leader of 360 had to share.
You've been doing this for a while now. How long have you been in business and what have you learned? We've been doing this for eight or so years now, and it appears that we've made quite a name for ourselves, thanks to those who have believed in us the most - our employees, partners and clients. We've learned that, with the local goal of raising the bar for transportation expectations in St. Louis, we've found ourselves well on the road towards improving transportation standards across the nation.
What has been the most impactful decision that you can attribute to your results? It's been the decision to invest in and execute on our unique concept, Priority Medical Transport (PMT). We developed it to provide a distinction between the types of patients that we are most concerned about - the most acute, chronic and catastrophic. They have different needs than all other Non Emergency Medical Transportation patients. PMT is for those who are the most vulnerable and the most at-risk.
What might your patients come to expect with PMT? First, it's our well trained, caring staff of drivers and dispatchers. Without their accomplishments we wouldn't be having this conversation. Then it's our NEMTAC Accreditation, and the standards that we adhere to as part of that investment. We are one of only 12 in the nation who have achieved the highest accreditation a business like 360 can earn. The standards achieved under this accreditation far exceeds that of any other provider in our service area and most in the nation. Last, our commitment to blending technology with the fundamental understanding that we must be extraordinary service providers who excel at taking care of people.
What does it do for various healthcare teams like skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation facilities and specialized care centers? PMT was also designed for those who work with the most chronically ill, highest acuity and most catastrophically injured. When a PMT program is executed at a facility, it improves their health outcomes while reducing their overall medical expenses. It's St. Louis' first Value Based Transportation model - the ideal, affordable, comfortable, and compassionate alternative to traditional non-emergency medical transportation and ambulance services.
What can your current and future facilities come to expect with a PMT program? Average 1–3 hour hospital discharges. A fast, reliable alternative to ambulances for all non-medical necessity transports. Local, regional and long-distance transports to locations throughout the Midwest. Improvement in hospital throughput. Reductions of re-admissions. Improvement in health outcomes. Lower overall health care costs. Mitigation of missed/delayed follow-up medical appointments. Uniformed drivers in clearly identified vehicles.
360 - Outcome focused, priority focused, facility focused, healthcare transportation for the most chronic, acute and catastrophic. We are Value Based Transportation.
